OUR PLANS FOR SØRLIGE NORDSJØ II

Aker Offshore Wind, Statkraft and bp have the scale, expertise and technology to develop Sørlige Nordsjø II and build an exciting new industry in Norway – providing reliable, renewable power domestically. The Norwegian government has decided that the development of Sørlige Nordsjø II will be divided into two phases of 1500 MW each. The first phase will send the power to the Norwegian mainland, and then a possible connection abroad will be investigated for phase two.

Our plans for Sørlige Nordsjø II will utilise all our experience in delivering large offshore projects with our engineering expertise, combined with leading technology to digitize industrial processes, which will ensure efficient energy production and minimize environmental impact.

Our plans for Sørlige Nordsjø II have the potential to transform the Norwegian supply chain, develop offshore wind skills and expertise, and create jobs in Norway.

Our plans for Sørlige Nordsjø II will create a competitive Norwegian offshore wind sector by building wind farms of sizeable acreage and turbines to cut costs and minimize risks.

ABOUT THE SØRLIGE NORDSJØ II AREA

The licensing area Sørlige Nordsjø II, situated offshore Norway and bordering Danish waters, has a favourable location for offshore wind. It has both superb wind conditions and excellent power export opportunities to local and adjacent markets. The total size of the area is 2591 km2. The sea depths of the area make it possible to develop bottom-fixed wind power, although floating solutions may also be relevant.
